" The first encounter was at night... A tanker and a large freighter, under escort...
A surface attack was made against the tanker... I sent 8 fish her way, from both the forward and aft tubes...
Soon after, three large explosions were seen, and the tanker began to sink...
We were briefly detected by her green escort... Evasive maneuvers on my part, combined with the inexperience of the enemy skipper, allowed "Snapper" to escape while taking minimal damage....
About a week later, In the evening hours, We intercepted two more vessels under escort....
I attacked a 4400 ton passenger ship from a submerged position...
This damaged the target but failed to sink her..
I took my boat deep to avoid enemy detection...
When I returned to periscope depth, I observed that the damaged passenger ship was no longer under escort...
We moved to close range and finished her off with a combination of deck gun shells and torpedoes...
The final encounter occurred a few nights later...
We attacked an escorted freighter weighing in at an estimated 6900 tons...
We quickly sank the target and slipped away, undetected...."
