1 MARCH 1943
The Battle for the Atlantic has gone well for the Axis these past few months. However, in the Mediterranean the Allies have systematically and progressively improved their positions. Fewer and fewer Axis warships are able to put to sea, the merchant fleet is now near non-existent. Axis forces in North Africa have been compressed to little more than Tunisia. The Regia Marina is to continue to harass Allied shipping, and support our forces in North Africa by any means possible.
Our group is currently based out of La Spezia, Italia. Some boats and crews may be assigned to BETASOM, at Bordeaux, France. Though stationed in Bordeaux and tactically coordinating with the Kriegsmarine, those submarines will remain under operational command of Submarine Division 18.
